Sydney is the kind of city that instantly feels like a good time. Picture this: the Sydney Opera House peeking out over the harbour, the laid-back vibe of Bondi Beach, and a bustling food scene that’s always on point. Whether you’re up for surfing, exploring cool neighbourhoods, or just soaking in the sun, Sydney’s got something for everyone. Ready to dive into my travel guide for this Aussie gem? Let’s go!
The Sydney skyline is gorgeous, and the Opera House and the bridge and landmarks recognised by most people around the world.
Things to do
The Bondi to Coogee walk is one of Sydney’s most iconic coastal trails, offering stunning views of the cliffs, beaches, and ocean along the way. Stretching for about 6 km, it’s not just the natural beauty that draws people in—each year, the route is transformed into an open-air gallery with the "Sculpture by the Sea" exhibition. Art installations are dotted along the path, blending into the landscape and adding a creative touch to the experience. It's a unique way to enjoy both the scenery and local art as you wander between Bondi’s vibrant energy and Coogee’s laid-back charm.
You'll pass by gorgeous Bronte Beach, which is a good place to stop for a dip and a coffee.
Depending on which where you begin your walk, you'll either start or end at Bondi Beach. Here, I can recommend visiting the RSL club at Icebergs - a great casual spot for lunch, with a view to die for.
Accommodation
A great option if you're looking to stay somewhere outside of inner city Sydney is Intercontinental Double Bay, which had an incredible rooftop pool with a gorgeous view of the city.
Whilst it's not in right in the city, I actually really enjoyed staying in the upmarket Double Bay area, with it's gorgeous boutiques, bars and restaurants.
Restaurants
One of my favourites for lunch is Bistro Moncur. If you’re in the mood for a dining experience that marries classic charm with contemporary flair, Bistro Moncur is a must-visit. This bistro offers a menu that’s both comforting and refined. From the moment you step in, the warm, inviting atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The dishes are crafted with a touch of elegance—think perfectly cooked steaks and inventive seafood creations, each plate showcasing fresh, high-quality ingredients. The service is attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall relaxed yet sophisticated vibe.
Another great restaurant in the Double Bay area is Margaret, a gem that effortlessly combines elegance with a relaxed atmosphere. This chic venue is ideal for those who appreciate both a stylish setting and exceptional cuisine. The menu boasts a range of delectable dishes, with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and creative flavor combinations.
Sydney offers a vibrant mix of urban sophistication and natural beauty. With its iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, alongside stunning beaches and lively neighbourhoods, the city caters to a diverse range of interests. Whether you're exploring the bustling city centre or relaxing by the water, Sydney's dynamic atmosphere ensures there's always something to discover. It's a destination that truly has something for everyone, making it a must-visit for any traveller.
