Idyllic Hamilton Island, Australia

Hamilton Island is one of those places where time seems to slow down, but the experiences come at you fast. Nestled in the heart of Queensland’s Whitsundays, this little slice of paradise is as close as you can get to the Great Barrier Reef without needing a scuba tank. The island isn't just about the postcard-perfect beaches—though they are undeniably stunning. It's about the laid-back vibe, where golf buggies replace cars, and the hardest decision you’ll make all day is whether to explore the island’s bush trails or just lounge by the pool with a good book. For families, couples, and solo travelers alike, Hamilton Island offers a bit of everything, wrapped up in an easygoing, island charm.

Being a passionate runner, I loved exploring the trails and had some of the most challenging runs of my life - but was rewarded with extraordinary views.

Outside our apartment hotel, kangaroos were jumping around, minding their own business and not all frightened of people passing.

Perched on the neighboring Dent Island, a short ferry ride from Hamilton Island itself, the Hamilton Golf Club clubhouse offers a dining experience that’s as much about the scenery as it is about the food. The menu is a fresh take on Australian cuisine, with locally sourced seafood and seasonal produce making every dish vibrant and flavourful. Even if you’re not a golfer, lunch here is worth the trip, offering a peaceful retreat from the island’s more bustling spots.

I'd recommend starting with a drink on the terrace out the front - the view is incredible and there's games and plenty of space for the kids to run around.

Another gorgeous spot for a drink is the Yacht Club. We loved grabbing a cold drink here, looking out over the water. Apparently you can often turtles swim by, sadly they were not around when we visited.

Hamilton Island is truly a paradise with something for everyone. From luxury, adults-only resorts, to family friendly apartment hotels with incredible views - on Hamilton Island you're guaranteed a stress-free holiday. The days here are a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and those unforgettable experiences that linger long after you’ve gone, and we're already looking forward to returning!
