Doha, the gleaming capital of Qatar, is the perfect blend of modern luxury and traditional charm. Whether you’re passing through on a stopover or planning a dedicated city break, this city offers everything from stunning architecture and world-class dining to cultural landmarks and waterfront views.

The Pearl-Qatar, often likened to Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah, is a glamorous neighbourhood with Mediterranean-inspired architecture, yacht-lined marinas, and upscale boutiques. Arriving here feels like stepping into a postcard-perfect setting.

Read on to for my ultimate guide to a perfect stopover in Doha!

The Pearl-Qatar: A Luxurious Setting

Located on the artificial island known as The Pearl-Qatar, the Kempinski offers a stunning retreat. This Mediterranean-inspired neighbourhood is famed for its yacht-lined marinas, luxury boutiques, and upscale dining options. The area is a destination in itself, with picturesque streets and a tranquil waterfront setting.

The hotel stands out with its elegant architecture and prime location overlooking the marina. Its suites are designed to impress, featuring spacious layouts, private balconies, and fully equipped kitchens. Views of the marina or Doha’s glittering skyline make it a luxurious base for any stopover.

The Rooms and Suites

Kempinski The Pearl offers a selection of beautifully appointed rooms and suites, perfect for everyone from solo travellers, to couples seeking refined luxury, to families travelling with young kids.

We stayed in a Deluxe Room with a view of the Pearl. At 75 m², there was plenty of space and a cot had been provided for our baby girl.

The beds are majestic and extremely comfortable.

Dining and Facilities

The Kempinski has an array of dining options, from Mediterranean-inspired fare to international cuisines. We love Al Sufra, a gorgeous restaurant offering authentic recipes and flavours from Lebanon, Cyprus, Syria, Jordan and Palestine.

Harry's Dolce Vita offers Italian cuisine in beautiful surroundings, while BiBo serves up Andalusian cuisine.

The hotel also boasts a tranquil pool area, a well-equipped gym, and a spa for unwinding in style.

Exploring Doha’s Highlights

A stopover in Doha is an opportunity to experience its world-class attractions, many of which are easily accessible from The Pearl.

  • Souq Waqif: A cultural gem where spices, textiles, and handcrafted goods fill the narrow alleys.

  • The Museum of Islamic Art: An architectural masterpiece housing an exceptional collection of Islamic artefacts.

  • Katara Cultural Village: Home to art galleries, theatres, and waterfront restaurants, offering a glimpse into the city’s creative spirit.

  • The Corniche: A picturesque waterfront promenade, perfect for a leisurely walk with views of the skyline.
