A long weekend in Bali, with just the right mix of beachside relaxation, vibrant nightlife, and exquisite dining—sounds like paradise, right? Staying at Desa Potato Head, I got to enjoy the eco-conscious luxury of one of Bali’s most iconic beachside resorts, while also exploring some standout spots around Seminyak and Canggu. Here’s how to spend an unforgettable few days soaking up the best Bali has to offer.
Accomodation: Desa Potato Head
After landing and navigating Bali’s bustling airport, checking into Desa Potato Head felt like a breath of fresh, tropical air. The welcoming design, with its eclectic mix of reclaimed materials and modern Balinese touches, sets the tone right from the start.
My room was an eco-luxe haven, with refillable toiletries, soft linens, and complete with a bar to mix up your own cocktails. With the sun shining and the ocean calling, it was the perfect place to kick off the weekend. Read my full review here.
The Beach Club at Desa Potato Head is famous for a reason, and it’s the best spot to watch the sunset with a refreshing cocktail. I grabbed a daybed by the pool, ordered a cold coconut, and settled in to watch Bali’s legendary sunset. The vibe here is unbeatable—a mix of locals, tourists, and artists, with DJs spinning laid-back tunes to keep the mood relaxed.
The best restaurants
For dinner, we headed to St Jacques. Tucked away in a peaceful corner of Seminyak, St Jacques brings a bit of Paris to Bali, serving French-inspired favourites. With its French flavours and relaxed atmosphere, St Jacques was a perfect way to start our Bali adventure.
We also dined at Sardine, a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and a real party vibde. This open-air restaurant has a unique ambiance, blending Bali’s natural beauty with a touch of rustic chic. We started with crispy rice sushi with tuna, which was incredibly fresh, followed by a main of grilled seafood.
Canggu Vibes and Finn’s Beach Club
Finn’s Beach Club in Canggu is an institution. Known for its laid-back, surf-inspired vibe and oceanfront location, Finn’s is the spot for anyone who wants to relax, people-watch, and take in Bali’s beach culture. I'd made a booking in the VIP area, which I'd highly recommend. You get a comfortable lounge, a welcome drink, towels, change rooms, locker, ice cream and an afternoon spritz. We spent time in all pools, both the VIP one and the beach party ones - they all have a different vibe. We also loved the DJ and the party vibes in the beach party area.
We had lunch at one of their three restaurants, St Tropez. The food was great and the location perfect, but I was expecting more of a party vibe. The restaurant was practically empty besides us and a couple of other tables.
Departure and Final Thoughts
Bali may be a small island, but there is so much to do. Between the sustainable luxury of Desa Potato Head, the unforgettable meals at places like St Jacques and Sardine, and the beach club vibes at Finn’s, it was the perfect combination of relaxation and exploration. I left Bali feeling rejuvenated and already planning my next trip back.
